"Drum-making involves the sacrifice of an animal whose hide is used to make the drum. It is my intent that the spirit of the animal is honored in the use of the drum.  I like drums to be both functional and works of art. 

The White Buffalo has been a recurring theme on my drums because it is a symbol of hope and the promise of a new world at a time when that is most needed!  White buffaloes have been born in the last several years and this has been seen as the prophesy of hope coming to fulfillment.   Since my intent is to create visionary art for a world of hope, the White Buffalo will continue to appear in my art."

Niara makes custom drums, working to find the right design for each client.  Each hand crafted drum is unique.  Original artwork is painted onto the drum head. Prices from $130 to $900+ according to size, type of materials and artwork on the drum.  A non-refundable materials deposit (also varies according to the size and type of material) is required on every custom drum ordered.
